A Cheese Shop and Café in One
The Fine Cheese Co. cheese shop in Bath will wow you with its shelves of carefully selected cheese that's both the best of British and the best of Europe. All our charcuterie, wines and other artisan products have been personally chosen by Ann-Marie.
From the moment you arrive in our café, you'll smell the soothing aroma of our authentic Le Piantagioni del Caffè coffee that's roasted in the Tuscany region of Italy, and then imported by us. There's also ice cream if you have a sweet tooth, or orange juice freshly squeezed here, should you be looking for vitamin C.
Our skilled chefs, using only the finest ingredients, cook and bake from scratch, and prepare everything in our café, including, for example, our monthly-changing seasonal menus, our macarons and our sandwiches.
Ask our friendly cheese-mongers to prepare a platter based on your tastes, or speak to them about which cheeses are in season. If you're in awe of the cheese range, our staff will put you at ease. Wine and beer are on offer too.
All of our wines have been personally selected to pair perfectly with our cheeses and menu dishes. Some wines are available by the glass or carafe, including our fizz, but we have bottles to choose from as well. Ask a member of our staff for more details.
Our shop has a fantastic range of charcuterie, imported directly by us from Italy, France and Spain, all freshly cut for you.
And then there are biscuits, crackers, chutneys, chocolates, juices and nectars.
For nights when you won't have time to cook, let The Fine Cheese Co. prepare your food for you.
Drop into our Walcot Street shop and pick up a delicious, home-made dish, to take away for a fuss-free dinner. Alternatively, if a sandwich just won't do, grab something from our Specials range, such as a savoury tart or sausage roll, to eat al-desko, or alfresco if you are lucky enough!

Meet Our Team
Matt, Cheese Shop Manager
A love of food and cooking started our Cheese Shop Manager, Matt, on a journey that began with studies at The School of Artisan Food and later brought him to The Fine Cheese Co. Bath.
It’s the reactions of people when they taste cheese they haven’t tried before that make Matt particularly proud. He has had his share of interesting requests too, with one gentlemen asking for forty grams of forty cheeses to celebrate his fortieth birthday.
When not in the shop, you’ll find Matt dreaming of miniature Dachshunds, watching Coen Brothers films or singing the praises of his favourite taste sensation, banana on toast, with a sprinkling of salt and pepper.
Emma, General Manager
A hospitality veteran, Emma’s worked everywhere from Thailand to Australia. However, we’re pleased she’s now settled in Bath, having been the General Manager here at The Fine Cheese Co. for five years.
While a big fan of an almond milk flat white, having fallen in love with it during her time in Australia, Emma also has a highly skilled coffee-making repertoire. One customer put this to the test, bringing in a thermometer and asking for a latte at 85°C and not a degree over. Emma passed this examination with flying colours!
Whether it’s café life or busying herself as a parent, you’ll never find Emma flustered. We think that’s got a lot to do with her being a keen yogi, so she’s always in a place of calm and zen.
Gautam, Head Pastry Chef
The brains behind our incredible Savoury Cheese Macarons, Gautam cut his teeth at the School of Grand Chocolat Valrhona and the Callebaut Chocolate Academy. In our eyes, his desserts and pastries at The Fine Cheese Co. have already reached legendary status!
Gautam is a man who enjoys the classics, with our menu’s cheesecake and friands ranking among his favourites. However, if you ever want to bake something for his birthday, we hear he has quite a soft spot for Black Forest cake.
The always-happy Gautam also loves to help out with charity work when he can, with a very special Hospitality in Action event at Beaufort Polo Club ranking among his proudest achievements.
Laurent, Head Chef
Having worked at Michelin star restaurants in France and the UK, Laurent joined The Fine Cheese Co. Bath as our Head Chef, and we’re so happy to have him here. He revels in the creativity and freedom of the profession and this really comes through in the menus he creates.
When it comes to cooking with cheese, Laurent loves the texture and creaminess of our Caseificio La Baronia Mozzarella di Bufala DOP and feels it has such versatility for hot and cold dishes alike.
Laurent is a man of many talents. Outside of the kitchen, he’s either painting, having won several national awards back in France, or officiating for Team Bath’s swimming galas and competitions.
